New Delhi, Nov 24, : .To maintain Delhi’s air quality, only CNG-run electric vehicles will be allowed to enter the city starting November 27.

All petrol and diesel transports will remain out of the city until December 3.
“As Delhi’s pollution levels are decreasing, which is leading to an improved Air Quality Index(AQI) comparable to pre-Diwali days,” the Delhi government has taken a series of measures to maintain it.The entry of trucks and other vehicles from outside Delhi has been restricted to those who are involved in essential services only.

“From November 27, only CNG and electric vehicles will be permitted entry to the national capital.

All other vehicles will be banned until December 3, said Gopal Rai, Delhi Environment Minister.He spoke after a high-level meeting to discuss measures to maintain Delhi’s clean air.

“Schools, colleges and libraries, as well as other educational institutions, will also reopen from November 29 onwards,” said he, adding that government offices would also reopen from Monday.Everyone is encouraged to use public transport.

“We also have decided to deploy special CNG busses for major colonies like Timarpur, Gulabi Bagh and others from which Delhi government employees commute to work.Rai said that shuttle buses will be provided from Delhi Secretariat to Indraprastha metro stations and ITO for employees.”

“Recently, Delhi government removed restrictions on construction and demolition activities.All construction agencies were also advised to follow the 14 point-guidelines.

To reduce dust pollution, we have sent 585 teams.The minister stated that anyone found violating the norms would be punished and subject to strict action without notice.

Monday’s ban on construction activities was lifted by the Delhi government, following a slight improvement in the capital’s air quality.

Due to rising levels of pollution in the capital, all schools were closed on November 21st.

The AQI of the capital continued to hover at the upper end of either the’very poor or’severe category since Diwali.Air quality was deteriorated due to changes in wind direction, stubble burning, and the bursting of firecrackers.

After strong surface winds swept through Delhi on Sunday, Delhi’s air quality improved.Today’s AQI was recorded at 280 by The System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research.

An AQI of between zero and 50 and considered ‘good’, 51 to 100’satisfactory, 101 and 200 satisfactory’, 101 to 200’satisfactory, 201 and 300?poor’, 301 to 400’very poor’ and 401 to 500’severe’.
