Odisha will establish 11 new stations of police to combat cybercrime

Bhubaneswar : , Dec 14, 2014 – The Odisha government decided to establish 11 additional police stations in order to combat cybercrime and other economic offences.
Through a Tuesday statement, Chief Minister Naveen Patel made the announcement.

According to the statement, new stations of police will be established in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar as well as Keonjhar and Angul.

Currently, there are three of these police stations at Sambalpur and Rourkela.

The statement also stated that these three stations would be combined with the new system.

The police department has created 154 positions for the appointment at these stations.There are 14 inspectors and 28 sub-inspectors.28 ASIs (communications) have been created.28 constables also (communications).

In addition to the above manpower, 90 experts, including finance and accounts analysts, IT experts, and cyber forensic experts, will be appointed in the police stations.

Odisha is witnessing a number of cyber crime incidents of late, with a rise of 31 per cent in 2020 as compared to 2019.Altogether, 1,475 cases were registered in 2019, which increased to 1,931 in 2020.

Cyber crime is common in bank transactions and complex digital transactions.Therefore, special knowledge and skills are required to properly investigate and control these crimes.

So the state government has taken this decision to open 11 special police stations in different parts of the state, officials said.
