MLAs from Odisha to be subject to RT-PCR testing for Winter Session

Bhubaneswar : , Nov 25, 2005 – In light of Covid-19, all MLAs will be subject to RTPCR testing for the Winter Session Odisha Assembly, which starts December 1.
SN Patro, Assembly Speaker, stated that the Winter Session will be held in the same way as the previous session, despite restrictions imposed by the Centre, state government, and the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He stated that all MLAs, including ministers, security staff and drivers, will be subject to RT-PCR testing on November 28, 29, and 30, he added.

All officers and staff of Odisha Legislative Assembly Secretariat will be subject to RT-PCR testing.

The Assembly will allow those who have been tested negative for the RTPCR virus in their blood to enter the premises.The Speaker stated that immunity of MLAs to the virus will be tested in addition to the Covid-19 test.

The House, Speaker Gallery, and Public Gallery will be used to arrange the seating arrangements for members.This will keep social distancing standards in place.

The Speaker informed members who are unable to attend the house in-person that they can participate via video conferencing.

Patro stated that the time the Assembly will operate daily will be determined at the all-party meeting on November 29.

Before each session begins, members will receive face shields, masks, and gloves from the health department.Daily house sanitation will be done.

The session will last 26 days and will continue until December 31.The supplementary budget will be presented on the first day.The Appropriation Bill will then be submitted on the second day.
