Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an earlier announcement that the government had decided to abolish the three laws governing farm in India, strongly opposed by farmers all over the country.

The laws include The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and facilitation) Act, The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act and The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act.

Although the BJD supported many Bills including controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill Bill, the party opposed some provisions in the farm laws.

Because the MSP concerns of small farmers and marginal farmers have not been properly addressed, the party requested that Bills be sent the Select Committee.

Naba Nirman Krashak Sangathan, however, referred to it as a victory for farmers and stated that protests would continue until the laws in Parliament are repealed.
