Bhubaneswar : , Nov 17, 2017 – Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patel said Wednesday that his government views the engagement in Mission Shakti groups by its government as part of its commitment to economic empowerment for women in the state. Patnaik said this while reviewing performance of 20 departments in provisioning government business to Mission Shakti Self Help Groups (SHGs).
This was said by Patnaik while evaluating the performance of 20 departments when it comes to providing government services for Mission Shakti Self Help Groups.
Over 70 lakh women of 6 lakh SHGs have joined the Mission Shakti movement across the State.
More than 70 million women from 6 lakh SHGs joined Mission Shakti across the state.In its first Cabinet meeting held on May 29, 2019, the Naveen Patnaik government had approved the proposal on provisioning of government services & procurements worth Rs 5,000 crore through Mission Shakti SHGs in five years.
The proposal to provide government services and procurements of Rs 5,000 crore by Mission Shakti SHGs was approved in the first Cabinet meeting, which took place on May 29, 2019.
Accordingly, the state government has formed separate Department of Mission Shakti in March 2021.
In March 2021, the State Government created a separate Department of Mission Shakti.The Mission Shakti has been provided business worth of Rs 1,198 crore to 1,04,712 SHGs generating income of Rs 296 crore during 2020-21 in convergence with different government departments, official sources said.
Official sources claim that the Mission Shakti was provided with business assets of between Rs 1198 crore and 1,04,712 small-scale enterprises (SHGs) generating an income of Rs 296 cr during 2020-21.This convergence took place alongside other government departments.
During the meeting, secretaries of various departments presented their progress made so far and action plan for next three years.The meeting was attended by secretaries from various departments who presented the progress they have made and their plans for the next three years.
“Let all our interventions be designed keeping this in mind.This should be the focus of all interventions.
Let every service provided by government be seen from this angle and remuneration paid to the groups be reworked from this prospective,” Naveen told the secretaries.Naveen advised the secretaries that government should be looked at from the same angle, and that the remuneration given to groups must be reconsidered.
