Odisha permits cultural performances subject to strict Covid rules

Bhubaneswar (INNS), Nov 20, 2018 – The Odisha government allows cultural activities starting Saturday, with the exception of open theatres, dramas, orchestras and melodies.
P.K., the Special Relief Commissioner was given an order.Jena stated that cultural events, including programmes such as melodies and orchestras, jatras and operas, and dances-classical and folk, and cultural competitions have been permitted to open in accordance with Covid protocols.

He said that auditoriums, assembly halls, and other similar buildings are permitted to be opened.

The order states that local authorities (District Commissioner/SP/ Municipal commissioner or any other authorized officer) will grant permission to open-air theatres and operas.However, they must comply with Covid-19 safety protocols, such as the mandatory wearing of masks, physical distancing, and provision of thermal scanning.

In order to preserve the space of the open field, a maximum of 2,000 people will be permitted.This is in accordance with the prescribed physical distance norm.

The seating arrangements shall also be adjusted accordingly.Indoor halls have a maximum capacity for 50 spectators.

The organisers must make it possible to book tickets online.It stated that they must open enough counters for physical ticket booking so as to avoid crowding.

Similar to cinemas and theatres, they were allowed to open up to 50% of their capacity, provided that the Covid protocol is followed.

The Police Commissioner, District Collector, Superintendent, and Superintendent of Police have the authority to limit the numbers of people allowed to attend such gatherings/functions, keeping in mind the specific circumstances.

A person with a double/final vaccine certificate, Rapid Antigen Test (ve/RT-PCR) (ve) report within 72 hours of the function is allowed to attend.

Organisers will need to get permission from local authorities for these activities and adhere to Covid-19 safety protocols during the event.

The function will be denied to persons with severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) or influenza-like symptoms (ILI).

SRC advised people with disabilities, pregnant women, and persons over 65 not to go to such events.
