Odisha will jab 90% of the eligible population with their 1st dose before Nov 30

Bhubaneswar : , Tuesday, November 16th, 2008 Officials in Odisha stated that the government set Tuesday a goal to administer the Covid-19 vaccine for 90 percent of eligible people by November.
Holding a virtual meeting with all District Collectors in presence of senior officials of the health department, Odisha Chief Secretary S.C.Mahapatra has directed to step up the vaccination programme to achieve cent per cent vaccination by December end.S.C.Mahapatra, Odisha Chief Secretary, held a meeting via virtual with all district collectors.He also invited senior health officials to join the meeting.

The chief secretary directed that the vaccination program be intensified to reach cent percent vaccination before December.

“We are now in a transitional phase of the pandemic.We are currently in the transitional phase.There has been a substantial reduction in the number of cases.

The number of people infected has decreased significantly.At this point of time, we have to intensify the vaccination drive before a possible third wave of the pandemic hit the country,” Mahapatra said.

Mahapatra stated that at this time we need to increase the vaccination drive in order to prevent a third pandemic from hitting the country.

He asked the Collectors to prepare the village and GP-level micro plan for the vaccination programme.

The Collectors were asked to create a microplan for the vaccine programme and prepare the village.He also directed to ensure cent per cent implementation of the micro plans on campaign mode through door to door survey.

He directed that the campaign microplans be implemented on campaign mode by conducting door-to-door surveys.The collectors were further asked to intensify the campaign and open more vaccination centers at village and GP-level.

Further, the collectors were asked to increase their campaign and create more vaccine centers in villages and GP-level.

The vaccination rate in Odisha has gone above the national rate with least procedural wastage of vaccine doses.

With minimal procedural waste of vaccine doses, the Odisha vaccination rate has surpassed that of India.

Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Health and Family Welfare, R.K.Sharma said that total vaccination in Odisha crossed 4.03 crore by November 13.R.K.Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Health and Family Welfare stated that the total number of vaccines in Odisha had surpassed 4.03 million as of November 13.

About 82.4 per cent of the above 18 years population have received their first dose in the State against the national average of 79.8 per cent.Around 82.4 percent of those aged over 18 have had their first treatment in the state, compared to the national average of 79.8 per cent.

Similarly, 41.5 per cent of the population have got second dose against the national average of 38.4 per cent, Sharma said.Sharma stated that 41.5 percent of people have received second doses, compared to the 38.4 percentage national average.

State Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Shalini Pandit said the vaccine wastage in Odisha dipped to minus 5.3 per cent thereby saving around 20 lakh of the doses.Shalini Pandit, the State Director of National Health Mission (NHM), stated that the Odisha vaccine wastage dropped to minus 5.3%.This resulted in around 20 lakh doses being saved.

There was sufficient supply of the vaccine and the syringes and districts would be supplied more as per their demand, she said.She said that there was enough vaccine, and she added that the supplies for syringes would increase as they were requested.
