Kolkata, Nov 18 : The high-profile marriage between actor-turned-Trinamool MP Nusrat Jahan and businessman Nikhil Jain came to end on Thursday after a Kolkata court declared that the marriage was legally invalid because the duo got married in Turkey and the interfaith marriage was not registered in India. The court took Nikhil Jain’s law suit regarding his relationship with Nusrat into consideration.
It stated that they were married in Turkey, and that their interfaith marriage wasn’t registered in India.
“It has been declared that the alleged marriage between plaintiff and defendant on 19/06/2019 in Bodrum, Turkey is invalid,” stated S.Roy (civil judge), Alipore court.
Jain and Nusrat were married June 2019, in Bodrum, Turkey.
This was followed by an informal wedding party that included close family and friends.
Nushrat claimed earlier in the year that Jain was not her husband and that it was a living-in relationship.
She had claimed that the marriage wasn’t legal, and they were separated for many years.
Basirhat Trinamool Congress MP had made a lengthy statement.
He stated that the ceremony was invalid because it took place on Turkish land.It was also required to be approved under the Special Marriage Act in India because it was interfaith.This did not occur.According to the law, it’s not a marriage.
It is a relationship, or a living-in relationship.
The question of divorcing does not come up.Although our separation was long ago, I didn’t speak out about it because I wanted to keep my private life secret.My actions cannot be question by media, or anyone not related, based upon’separation.
Jain then filed an annulment lawsuit calling their marriage invalid.He stated that the couple lived as husband and wife since 2019, but her attitudes towards him had changed after a year.
Jain filed the case even before the actress-turned-politician became pregnant.Jain sent the notice in February of this year.Jain claimed that Nusrat was the father of the child after Nusrat fell pregnant.
After Amit Malviya, chief of BJP IT cell posted a video that showed Nusrat taking an oath ceremony and claimed it depicted her married, the issue sparked discussion.
TMC MP Nusrat Jahan Jahan Ruhi jain should not worry about her personal life.She does not know who or what she’s living with.
She is an elected representative, and it is public record that she has been married to Nikhil Jain.Malviya tweeted, “Did she lie on floor of House?”
Sanghamitra Maurya, a BJP parliamentarian, had also criticized Nusrat for allegedly giving misleading information regarding her marital status during her affidavit to the Lok Sabha elections 2019.She had previously declared that she was legally married.
Trinamool had supported Nusrat in this matter and called it ‘personal.
Kunal Ghosh, Trinamool’s General Secretary had stated that “Nushrat Jahan” is well-established.She is also a professional.
Several issues relating to her private life are being brought up, however they do not have anything to do with either the party nor the organization.The developments are being closely monitored by the party.
This is not a time for politics by the BJP.
