Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi once again hits headlines and obviously for wrong reasons.A special court of Mumbai on Wednesday issued a non-bailable warrant against Lalit Modi in a case of alleged money laundering registered against him.

The warrant was issued on the grounds that Modi did not respond to the summons by the Enforcement Directorate.ED had issued summons to the controversial former cricket administrator through his India-based lawyer on July 3 rd but Modi failed to respond them.

The central agency, had asked Modi to appear in person within 15 days in connection with a PMLA case filed by the BCCI in 2010, accusing him of misappropriating funds during his tenure as IPL chief.ED gave 15 days’ time to respond but he failed to do so.

The central agency on July 27 approached the special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) Court after Modi, did not respond to summons.Upon hearing petition Sessions court judge PR Bhavake issued non bailable arrest warrnat on Modi.

He said that issuing arrest warrant was justified as Modi has not co-operated with the agency despite being summoned three times for the investigation.
