There is no need for a booster dose right now: AIIMS director

New Delhi, Nov 23, : , Randeep Guleria, Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), said Tuesday that India does not require a booster dose at the moment.
Guleria stated that there is not a surge in coronavirus cases at the moment, which suggests that vaccines are still protecting against it.

He stated, “There is no need to have a vaccine booster or third dose right now.”

“It is unlikely that India will be hit by a third wave Covid-19, of the same magnitude as the first and second.The pandemic will become more severe over time.”We’ll continue to receive cases, but the severity of the pandemic will be greatly reduced,” he said.

Dr.Guleria spoke at the launch of “Going Viral” a book on Covaxin’s Making and Story, which was written by Dr Balram Bhargava, Director of Indian Council of Medical Research.

According to the director of AIIMS, vaccines were imported from other countries when H1N1 hit India.”From importing vaccines, to manufacturing our own vaccine, we have made great strides.Our Covid vaccines can now be exported to other countries.
