Gurugram : , Nov 19, 2005Gurugram’s Gurdwara Singh Sabha Committee had previously allowed Muslims to pray Friday at its premises.
Daya Singh (spokesman for the Gurudwara Singh Sabha Committee, president of All India Peace Mission), stated that the committee decided to allow Namaz on Friday but Gurpurab meant the Muslim community could not pray at the Gurdwaras.
Singh informed IANS that the committee would soon decide to allow Friday prayers at gurdwaras.
Gurdwaras are able to be used if Muslims face obstruction while praying in open spaces on Fridays.
Singh said that a discussion with members of the committee will determine the final decision on the issue.
In the meantime, the decision was made that Muslims could offer prayers on Friday at the Gurdwara Road in Gurugram.
Gurpurab was the reason that many devotees visited Gurdwara. Therefore, no room was available in their buildings.
He explained that Friday prayers were not offered by members of the Muslim community to the Gurdwara.
Singh said that they also helped Muslims during the Namaz conflict in Gurugram in 2018.
They then offered Friday prayers to the Gurdwara.
Singh claimed that Altaf Ahmad (co-founder of Gurugram Muslim Council) contacted Singh and told him they would visit Gurdwara Friday to wish Gurpurab well.
Aside from that, different Sikh Sangats, devotees, and members were insistent that no other rituals, except “Gurbani”, will be permitted in the Gurdwara.
Sardar Ravi Ranjan Singh is a social activist who was also the president of Jhatka Smiti.
He stated that no one can perform Gurbani in the Sangat premises except for Gurbani.
Gurdwara was created for Gurbani only.
It will not be used for other purposes.Singh said that Muslims who have problems with open prayer must seek the assistance of the district administration.
