The government promises legal support for MSP and they promise to end the agitation once the laws have been repealed Constitutionally in Parliament.
On Saturday, a nine-member Samyukt Kisan Morcha committee (SKM), the group of farmers protesting against the government, will meet.

It is expected to make four major demands.

This meeting will decide whether or not the SKM will continue with the original ‘March Towards Delhi” programme announced on November 26.

Today’s announcement of repealing the anti-farmer and anti-people laws and the pro-corporate black laws was a welcome victory for Indian farmers.”Our demands would include paying tributes for the martyr farmers in Parliament, legal validity, assurance for MSP and the Minimum Support Price; withdrawal of cases against the agitating farmer across the country; and compensation to those families who were killed during the agitation,” said the Ghazipur border leader of farmers.

In conjunction with Guru Nanak Jayanti’s auspicious occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Friday morning that the Parliament would repeal three controversial farm laws.He also said that the Constitutional process for repealing the laws will be discussed in the Parliament’s Winter Session beginning November 29.He appealed also to farmers to stop protesting and go home.

Modi announced that a committee would be formed, including representatives from the Centre, states governments, farmers and agricultural scientists.

This will discuss ways to increase effectiveness of Minimum Support Price (MSP), how to promote zero-budget farming, and how to change crop patterns in a scientific way.

Many farmers protested and camped at Delhi’s entrance points from all sides. The main focus was on the Singhu border in northern Delhi and Ghazipur border east Delhi.

The Singhu border camp was the headquarters of SKM.Rakesh Tikait, Bharatiya Kisan Union’s (BKU), set up his camp at the Ghazipur frontier.

Tikait was visiting Maharashtra’s Palghar Friday and stated to mediapersons that the PM had declared to abolish three of India’s farm laws.

These laws must be repealed by the Parliament.Only then will we end our protest.”

The SKM had earlier described Modi’s announcement in the morning as an historic victory for farmers who have struggled for “resolutely and unitedly, continuously, peacefully for one-year in the historical farmers’ struggle”.

“The struggle of the farmers has resulted in the restoration of democracy and the Indian federal polity.Several important demands are pending.SKM stated that sacrifice of over 675 farmers will not be permitted to waste.”

SKM stated that they hope that the government of India will fulfill all legitimate demands from protesting farmers. This announcement has seen a significant decline in the number of people who have received the repeal announcement.
