Five places in Kashmir were raided by the NIA in an Al-Qaeda case in UP (Ld).

New Delhi, Nov 25, : On Thursday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), conducted raids at multiple locations within Kashmir in the Al-Qaeda case in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow.
According to the agency, they searched five locations in Shopian or Budgam districts of Kashmir.According to NIA, “large numbers of incriminating documents as well as digital devices were seized during the current searches.”

Umar Halmandi is an Al-Qaeda operative who, along with other suspects, was radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable people for Al-Qaeda in Indian Subcontinent.He also tried to raise Ansaar Ganjwatul Hind for terrorist acts for which they had already arranged explosive substances and arms.

Uttar Pradesh initially registered the case on July 11, 2021.

The case was then transferred to NIA on July 29, 2021.

Two Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind operatives were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad in July.

The two men were accused of planning a series explosions in Uttar Pradesh during Independence Day.

Minaz Ahmad (32), was arrested in Kakori outskirts Lucknow, and Masiruddin (50) from Madioan.The sleuths also found an improvised explosive device, a pressure cooker bomb and a 9 mm countrymade pistol that was taken from Minaz’s home.

The Ansar Ghazwat ul-Hind was connected to the arrestees for the past year.

The two accused are alleged to have been in touch with Umar Hlamandi, an Al-Qaeda operative listed as being based somewhere near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.The duo planned to set off bombs in the state, according to Umar.

Umar manages Al-Qaeda’s operations within the Indian sub-continent.

Al Zawahiri announced the Al Qaeda’s India subcontinent module on September 3, 2014.Maulana Asim Obmar was appointed its leader.

Asim Umar was born in Sambal, Uttar Pradesh.He was killed in Afghanistan in 2019.This module was then run by Umar Halmandi, a Quetta/Peshawar area resident.

Halmandi was radicalizing and then recruiting men from Uttar Pradesh.
