Dubai, Nov 28, : Many UAE holidaymakers are facing difficulties when it comes to planning their trip home to India this winter.
IANS was informed by travel agents that UAE expatriates are reconsidering their plans to travel abroad during the upcoming National Day holiday and winter holidays because of fears about the Omicron virus.”Inquiries have dropped suddenly since this weekend.” We had some cancellations this morning due to the fears,” Adeel S., a Dubai travel operator, said while explaining how bookings at his small shop in Dubai’s Deira were still going strong until last week.

Sharjah-based travel agent Md.Jamal stated that he received at most a dozen calls from Sharjah residents and visitors asking about travel restrictions.

Many, mostly from Tamil Nadu and Kerala, have been asking about flights.

We have yet to hear back from authorities so it is business-as-usual for us.However, I have been asking travellers not to plan trips without caution.He said that this has been the case during these difficult times of Covid.”

Residents living abroad say they are unsure about their immediate travel plans.

Travellers arriving from the UAE to Kerala will not have to be quarantined for seven days.

Veena George, Kerala’s Health Minister, announced Saturday that Kerala has taken several preventive steps to stop the spread of Covid-19’s Omicron variant.Kerala will enforce mandatory quarantine and other strict travel protocols for all travellers from countries considered “at risk” by India’s government.

India currently has a red list of countries that include the UK, South Africa and Bangladesh, as well as China, Mauritius (New Zealand), Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Botswana, Botswana and Botswana.

According to the latest Indian guidelines, all passengers flying to India must still undergo an RTPCR test 72 hours prior to flight and must upload the results to the Air Suvidha portal.

Indian airlines operating in the UAE claim that they have yet to be informed by the Indian government about updated quarantine regulations.

This rule is only applicable to UAE nationals, diplomatic missions, official delegations between UAE and seven countries, and golden residence holders.
