Netflix buys the visual effects studio responsible for ‘Stranger Things.

San Francisco, November 23, 2018 : .Netflix announced that it has acquired Scanline VFX in Germany, one of most innovative and creative VFX studios worldwide, in an unspecified amount.

This acquisition comes as Netflix pushes to increase its in-house production.
Netflix stated it would invest in Scanline’s infrastructure, workforce, and pipeline and will continue to support Scanline’s pioneering work in virtual production.

Scanline VFX has been praised for its outstanding work on many Netflix originals including Stranger Things’, ‘Blood Red Sky’ and ‘Cowboy Bebop’.

Special effects have been provided by the studio for many Marvel or DC movies.

Amy Reinhard (VP Studio Operations), released a statement on Monday late saying that the visual effects team wanted to delight and surprise their members.

Scanline was established in 1989.It is currently led by Stephan Trojansky.Stephan Trojansky is a VFX Supervisor whose fluid rendering system Flowline received an Academy Award in Technical Achievement 2008.

There are offices located in Vancouver, Montreal and Los Angeles as well as London, Munich, Stuttgart, Seoul, London, Munich, Stuttgart, and Seoul.

Scanline is not only a Netflix collaborator, but has also done innovative work for ‘Game of Thrones’, ‘Godzilla vs Kong’, and ‘Justice League.

Netflix stated that the company would continue to be a separate business, and will work with a variety of clients.

It is anticipated that the deal will close during the first quarter 2022.
