Rio was responding in response to Nagaland Congress President K Therie’s claim that the NDPP is contemplating joining with the BJP following 2023 Assembly elections.

“I nor any other leader of NDPP has never spoken of anything similar to the above (merger of NDPP with BJP).Congress has concocted the baseless story.

They are not in a moral position to challenge the integrity of our organization,” the Chief Minister declared.

Therie on Thursday said that the NDPP is contemplating forming an BJP administration in the state.

The BJP and the NDPP last month concluded the seat sharing agreement to run for the 60-member Nagaland assembly elections later in the year.

The BJP’s representative for Nagaland, Nalin Kohli and the General Secretary of the NDPP, Abu Metha announcing the deal in New Delhi had announced that the NDPP will compete in 40 seats while the BJP would contest in the remaining 20 seats.

The seat sharing agreement was concluded following Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Rio met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the capital city of the nation.
