Mumbai, Nov 22, : .Nawazuddin Sydiqui’s Aarya’, Ram Madhvani’s?Aarya’, and the controversial Vir Das are the nominees for International Emmy Awards.The awards, which honour excellence in TV programming, will be held at Casa Cipriani, New York City, on Monday evening (U.S.Eastern Time). Awards will be presented in eleven categories, with nominees representing 24 countries.
This time, three titles are from India were included in the nominee list.
Siddiqui was nominated for his performance in the category of best acting by an actor for Sudhir Mishra’s ‘Serious Men.He was nominated in the best performance by an actor category at the 47th International Emmy Awards held in London, 2019, on behalf of McMafia’s cast and crew.
Nawaz is the main character in ‘Serious Men.’ The film is a comedy based on Manu Joseph’s book.This film tells the tale of Ayyan Mani (a middle-aged male who works at the National Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai).
Ayyan, who has lived in poverty for most of his adult life with his family, is frustrated by the situation.He creates a story to present his son as a scientist, but things take an unexpected turn after the lies get out of control.Netflix is streaming ‘Serious Men.
Aarya, an Indian crime-thriller series that Ram Madhvani directed (most recently seen in news due to Kartik Aryan’s ‘Dhamaka’ nomination), is the second nominee.The Best Drama category has nominated it.
Sushmita Sen plays the title role in Disney+ Hotstar’s adaptation of Dutch TV series “Penoza”.She is the mafia queen Aarya Sareen after her husband’s murder at the hands of drug lords.Chandrachud Singh and Namit Das star in the series, as does Sikander Khher.
Vir Das, who recently became embroiled in a scandal over his ‘Two Indias” act at Washington’s Kennedy Center, D.C., was nominated to the Netflix comedy special Vir Das: for India.The comedian, who has a unique view on the topic, celebrates India’s history starting at the Vedas and ending in Bollywood.
The Nigerian comedian and actress Yvonne Orji, of ‘Night School fame, will present the 49th International Emmy Awards.These awards recognize excellence in international TV outside the US.
Yvonne will be joined by artists such as Vanessa Williams and Aidan Quinn.Indian viewers will be able to view the ceremony starting at 5:30 AM IST Tuesday 23 November.
