The BJP functionary had filed the defamation complaint against the NCP leader last month. He was accused of defaming him with revelations that Rishabh Sachdev, his brother-in law, was among those detained by Narcotics Control Bureau following raids on the Cordelia Cruise on Oct 2.and was later released.

Bhartiya claimed that the minister used his power to spread doubts and canards about his brother-in law’s release and has ruined his image and reputation.

After reviewing the evidence presented by Bhartiya the Magistrate ruled prima facie that Malik’s statements to his media briefings on Oct 9 and 11 pointed to defamation. He issued the process against Malik.

Interacting with media, Malik stated that he had honored the court notice and appeared before Magistrate in defamation case filed by Bhartiya. However, he denied all claims of the complainant.

“We have also recorded that Bhartiya is a fraudster in a scam of Rs 1.100 crore and raids by Central Bureau of Investigations against him.He changed his name to Bhartiya when the scam was first reported. We have provided all evidence to the court and will add more later.” he stated.

Bhartiya had sent him several legal notices shortly after the ministera’s expose.

When the allegations continued, he filed a defamation case against Malik at the Mazagaon Magistrate Court.
