The recent comments made by the ruling YSRCP MPs in the Parliament has led to severe criticisms in Andhra Pradesh politics.There are allegations that the AP government is mired in debt.
Criticisms are coming that the AP government is floundering with insufficient funds for pensions and other needs for the salaries of government employees.It is against this backdrop that the Andhra Pradesh state government has tried to draw panchayat funds for the needs of the state.
With this, the union govt received several complaints from Andhra Pradesh regarding the funds’ diversion by the AP state govt.The union govt incensed, and it has ordered the AP government that it should not draw funds from panchayats.
This seems to have shocked the AP government once again.
Already funds of Rs.1300 crores raised by the 1415th Economic Community was used by the AP state government.In addition, funds of Rs.944 crore from the 15th Finance Commission was diverted by the Finance Ministry from the Panchayat accounts a week ago.
Sarpanches say bills to be paid during polling are still pending.Sarpanches alleged that Covid quarantine centres have been set up in some panchayats which have not yet been funded.
