Basavaraj Bommai, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, made the statement before the legislative Assembly. He was also answering a question about the September gang-rape incident that occurred to Siddaramaiah, Opposition leader.

Siddaramaiah had earlier attacked the ruling BJP and especially Araga Jnanendra, the state Home Minister, for being callous. The case was closed after 15 hours.

Siddaramaiah claimed that the victim sustained injuries, and that the gynecologist who examined her noted bleeding from her private parts. She (doctor), wrote this in her observations.

He noted that the police had to wait for the boy’s statement before they could register the case.Bommai claimed that there was no excessive delay in registering this case.

The 2013 rape case against a Manipal law graduate involved no FIR or a statement for a longer period.

Jnanendra stated that “We are all concerned for our daughters.” Siddaramaiah and I both have a daughter. We ask her to be cautious when she goes to a nearby neighborhood.Gandhiji’s statement about women being able to move around at night is a good example. He said that the situation on ground was different and defended his statement by blaming his victim for leaving in the late evening.
