Yangon 12 Aug : Myanmar reported its first death from Covid-19 in more than four months in the last 24 hours which brought the number of deaths in Myanmar to 19,435, according the Health Ministry. The Southeast Asian country has recorded no deaths from Covid-19 as of Thursday , April 7, the longest period without deaths from Covid-19 since the beginning of the epidemic in the country, the Ministry’s statistics showed on Thursday.
The country has recorded 21 instances of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which brought the total to 614,297 cases, the Ministry declared.
The Ministry said it had tested 6,070 individuals to determine the presence of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours and the daily positive rate was 0.35 percent, Xinhua news agency reported.
Six patients have been able to recover and were released from hospital in the last 24 hours that brings the number of recuperations to 593,055.
Myanmar announced its first cases of Covid-19 on March 23, 2020.Then, it reported the first death due to Covid-19 was reported on March 31, 2020.
