The Supreme Court recently granted conditional bail to Narsapuram MP Raghurama Krishnamaraju. He was arrested by the AP CID officials in a treason case.
Later, Raghurama had approached the Supreme Court for bail. However, the Supreme Court sought a report from Army doctors after he alleged that CID officers had severely injured him.
Army doctors who did all sorts of tests on him sent a report by mail to the Supreme Court.Recently, a bench of Justices Vineet Sharan and BR Gawai examined the report.
The report made it clear that Raghurama had been beaten and injured while he was in the AP CID custody.
In this context, the Supreme Court, after hearing the arguments from both sides, said, since the petitioner underwent open-heart surgery in December last year, he should be released immediately from custody.
The Supreme Court ruled that the petitioner did not require a trial in custody.Currently, he is in Army Hospital, Secunderabad, and he will be discharged today.
The court ruled that the MP should not speak to the press, TV, or social media about the case and should not show injuries to anyone. Also, it warned that violating them would be taken seriously.
