Moeen Ali Chris Woakes, Dawid Malan and Mohammad Nabi signed up by Sharjah Warriors for UAE’s ILT20

Sharjah 19 August : England trio of Moeen Ali Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali Chris Woakes and Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi were amongst the 14 internationals signed by Sharjah Warriors for the inaugural edition of the International League T20 (ILT20) in the UAE.
Other signings by the Sharjah Warriors include Evin Lewis and Mark Deyal (West Indies), Noor Ahmad, Rahmanullah Naveen-ul-Haq and Gurbaz (Afghanistan) Tom Kohler-Cadmore Chris Benjamin and Danny Briggs (England), Bilal Khan (Oman) and JJ Smit (Namibia).Based on the new signings, Kohler, Benjamin and Deyal have yet to play in international cricket.

Moeen’s signing is surprising considering that numerous reports suggested that he had signed up to be member of Chennai Super Kings’ Johannesburg team in South Africa’s brand new T20 League, which is scheduled to play in an immediate clash with ILT20 in January and February of next year.

“We just learned.We will get the information the player’s name,” Kasi Viswanathan, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings, was quoted by Cricbuzz.

The Sharjah franchise, which is owned by Capri Global, is expected to recruit local UAE players in the near future.Reliance Industries Limited’s MI Emirates, Knight Riders owned by the group Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Adani Sportsline’s Gulf Giants and GMR-owned Dubai Capitals have already announced their squads for ILT20.

The debut ILT20 edition of ILT20 will take place in 34 matches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah beginning in January 2023.ILT20 will take place in direct competition with South Africa’s T20 League, also scheduled to start next year.

The two leagues will both be running in the same timeframe during which the Australian Big Bash League (BBL) and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will be in operation.
