Modi to open Kashi Corridor in Dec 13, according to reports

Varanasi : , Nov 19, 2009: Prime Minister NarendraModi will inaugurate Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, which connects Ganga River and the Kashi Vishwanath Temple on December 13.
Sunil Verma (Chief Executive Officer, Shri Kashi Vishwanath Special Area Development Board), stated that “nearly 24 buildings have been built along the corridor and the final touches are being given to it, which will be ready in the second week or December.”

The corridor is home to Shlokas as well as Vedic hymns.Its estimated value is close to Rs 1000 crore.

The corridor covers 5.5 million square feet and has helped to decongest the temple complex that was previously surrounded on all three sides by buildings.

The corridor project includes a temple platform covering more than 7,000m2 for meditation, seven grand entry gates, a cafeteria and a Vedic library.It also features a tourist centre, multi-purpose hall and security hall.

The corridor also features a special sky beam lighting system.

Modi laid the foundation for the corridor in March 2019

To create space, over 300 buildings were bought and demolished.

To speed up the process, the Uttar Pradesh government created the board.

The temple is visited by more than seven million tourists and devotees each year, while it receives over 10,000 daily visits from devotees mostly from Varanasi, the surrounding areas, and other places.
