This made it the most successful debut ever for a movie directed by a woman.Greta Gerwig, known for her acclaimed works like “Lady Bird” and “Little Women,” co-wrote the screenplay alongside Noah Baumbach.

In “Barbie,” Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling portrayed the iconic characters of Barbie and Ken.The story revolves around their journey from Barbieland to the real world in search of self-discovery.The star-studded cast also included Issa Rae, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Helen Mirren, John Cena, and Will Ferrell.

The film faced tough competition at the box office against Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” Nevertheless, “Barbie” managed to surpass expectations and set a new record for a female-directed film’s opening weekend earnings, outperforming the previous record held by “Captain Marvel” co-directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

Before its theatrical release, “Barbie” generated significant buzz and excitement through an extensive marketing campaign.
