Minister Srinivas Goud has directed the authorities to crack down on those who cultivate and transport cannabis and narcotics.The minister directed the officials of the Excise and Police Departments to collect the details of the farmers cultivating cannabis and the lands under cultivation so that the money of the farmers would not be received by the Agriculture Department officials.
The minister directed the officials to keep a close watch on the smugglers and suspects in coordination with the officials of the Excise and Police Departments.The minister told the officials that a PD Act case should be registered against those who were transporting cannabis and boundover.
The minister said the authorities should take steps to identify students addicted to drugs in educational institutions and conduct counseling for them.
He said the government should organize awareness seminars for students, their parents, administrators of educational institutions, officials of the Observatory and the police department, and on behalf of the government, awards would be given to those who have registered cases against those who are cultivating or transporting marijuana, as well as those who assist in it.The minister said that the youth and the people’s representatives should consider those who are cultivating cannabis in the villages as a social responsibility and provide information to the officials of the Observatory and the police department.Authorities have launched a campaign to crack down on cannabis cultivation in villages.
