Microsoft’s new features on OneNote incorporates AI-powered voice commands

San Francisco, Aug 7 : Tech giant Microsoft has launched a new Dictate feature for OneNote that can use AI-powered voice commands that control dictation, for example, the ability to delete text or undo the last step.
Voice commands powered by AI can be used to edit and format text, for example, the deletion of a word or reversing an action that was taken recently and the platform has stated that it will add additional command-line options to Dictate in the next few months, as reported by Windows Central.

“Now it’s simple to step off from your keyboard and remain in the flow using Dictate with AI-backed voice commands that edit, format, add and organize your text.” Sofia Thomas, Product Manager of Microsoft’s Office Voice Team was quoted as saying.

“Over the course of the next couple of months, we’ll introduce new voice commands, as well as those which are available in different Office applications to One Note,” it added.

Dictate works with more than 50 languages and is an alternative method to input text in OneNote.

The feature is now rolling out to everyone who uses OneNote online.It’s only available to Insiders using Beta Channel Version 2207 (Build 15427.10001) on OneNote for Windows.

To start the Dictation experience in OneNote you must click the Dictate button located on the Home tab.Select the Dictation Settings button to alter your preferences.

Start speaking to make notes.

Once you’ve finished taking notes then say “stop the dictation” or press the Stop Dictation button on the Dictation tab.
