Jordan will make his directorial debut in ‘Creed III,’ the latest chapter of Adonis Creed’s story.The film is due to open in theatres by Thanksgiving 2022. The news that Jordan was to lead the franchise came as a surprise.Jordan released a statement to explain why he decided to accept the challenge.
Jordan said, “Directing was always an aspiration.But the timing had to right.”
“Creed III” is the moment in my life when I feel more confident in who I am.It’s a point in which I have learned from great directors like Ryan Coogler and Denzel Washington.This is what sets the stage for our moment.
According to variety.com, Jordan collaborated with Washington in the real-life romance drama “A Journal for Jordan”.
He also received some tips from Washington, who is a two-time Oscar nominee and four-time director.
Washington recalled his conversation with Jordan about the direction of his film.
He stated that his first honest piece was “prepare.prepare.prepare”.
Variety reported that Washington said it was “much harder than you think” because he is acting and directing.
“But Michael is motivated, he’s bright and very intelligent, so I know he will succeed.”
Jordan said that Jordan was full of advice, quotes and gems and Jordan learned a lot from this storied entertainer.
Jordan was particularly interested in Washington’s preparations and described Washington’s rehearsals to be “spot on” and “intense”.
Jordan said that Jordan believes we had three weeks of rehearsals before filming began.Jordan agreed.Jordan shared, “I have always practiced rehearsals, but on (Creed), I believe that rehearsals are not necessary.I will make sure to get enough rehearsals so I can massage those scenes I feel are important for my cast once production begins.”
The casting for ‘Creed III is gradually coming together.Jordan will be reunited on screen with Adonis Creed’s love, Bianca Thompson (Phylicia Rashad), and her mother (Phylicia Rahhad).’Lovecraft Country’ and The Harder They Fall’ star Jonathan Majors joins the cast as the mysterious antagonist.
Jordan explained why Majors was the ideal sparring partner, saying, “Jonathan is just an amazing actor, an unbelievable person.”
He and I just spoke the first time.Then, when I presented the film to him, he immediately hit back at me and everything was set.He was then accepted.”
Jordan said, “He brings so many talents and different things to the table.It was an ideal match.
He is a great friend and I am extremely fortunate.He is a blessing to us and we are so excited for everyone to witness what we accomplish.”
Variety recently interviewed Majors about his fight against Jordan, and the role of the antagonist, as well as the lead roles that he has landed in recent years.
