Cor Pan posted the image from Amsterdam’s Schipol airport moments before the flight took off at 12:15 pm local time. The young man apparently posted a picture of the downed Malaysian flight on Facebook minutes before he boarded it by writing: “If it should disappear, this is what it looks like.” It was interpreted as making reference to Flight MH370 back in March in which 230 passengers were aboard believed to have crashed into the southern Indian Ocean. He might have made a joke about the plane in case it wound up like Flight MH370, but little did he know that Flight MH 17 would be shot down by a missile four hours into the plane’s destination.

The Dutch passenger was on the Malaysia Airlines plane with his girlfriend, Neeltje Tol.After verification by friends on Facebook and the like, it was confirmed by them that Cor Pan was indeed on the aircraft and in the Malaysian Airlines plane crash of Flight MH 17 when it was shot down by a missile in the Ukraine on July 17.The first responses on the Facebook post are from friends wishing Pan and his girlfriend Neeltje Tola good vacation. But after the news about the crash of MH 17 broke, his friends started showing concern and later posted grief messages.

The victims in Malaysian plane include 154 Dutch passengers, 27 Australians, 23 Malaysians, 11 Indonesians, 6 Britons, 4 Germans, 4 Belgians, 3 Philippines, one Canadian and 47 of yet unknown identities.May their souls rest in perfect peace, very sad news.
