Metro rails across the country to run from September 7 following Centre’s Unlock-4 guidelines.

Union Minister of housing and urban affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday said all Metro services across India will resume from September 7 in a phased manner.

Consequently, the Central Government has already issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for metro operations.As a part of that, several metro rails will skip stations which are more prone to Coronavirus.

Many metro stations are running their rails on a shift basis.Especially, Delhi to operate the metro rails in two shifts from 7 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 8 pm in a phased manner till September 9.Kochi will run a metro rail for every 20 minutes from 7 am to 8 pm only.

Metro stations like Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bengaluru may not have shifts, but stern guidelines like proper sanitization, strict social distancing have incorporated in the list.

The normal services are likely to start from September 12 in all the metro stations.However, Metro services across Maharashtra remain suspended although the state allowed inter-district travel from September 2.
