San Francisco, Aug 14 : Meta has partnered with the online delivery service DoorDash for delivery of Marketplace products that are between 15 and 15 miles (nearly 25 km) away in the US. DoorDash is able to deliver only items compact enough to be placed in the trunk of the car and drivers must make delivery within 48 hours of receiving the order, according The WSJ, The Verge reported.
In any case, it is a great alternative for those who are not able to purchase the item by themselves.
It also fills in a gap in Facebook Marketplace’s local delivery service, which allows you to get larger items delivered via a service known as Dolly the report stated.
The service is restricted to a small number of cities across the US and allows users to connect with two or three local “helpers” who will take bulky items like bookshelf, refrigerator or air conditionerinto the back of a pickup truck and then bring them to your home for a small fee.
In addition to Dolly as well as DoorDash, Meta also lets Marketplace sellers deliver items directly to buyer’s address.
According to the report, it’s not specific the number of Marketplace users have the option of DoorDash deliveries or how much it will cost you.
Both Meta and DoorDash confirmed the plan to the WSJ and said they have already tested the system in various cities in the US.
