San Francisco, December 31, : .BMW, IBM and Panasonic joined the increasing number of companies that have decided to not attend CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
Omicron Covid-19 cases have continued to rise. Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which is the governing body for CES, intends to proceed with the show.
However, many tech companies such as OnePlus, AMD and MSI, Google.Intel.Microsoft.Lenovo.AT&T.Meta.Twitter.Amazon.TikTok.Pinterest.
Alphabet-owned Waymo will not be attending the consumer electronics fair.
BMW stated in a statement that it had made to The Verge, “Out of an abundance caution, BMW will transfer all media activities planned at CES to a fully-online programme from Germany on Jan 5.”
Mercedes-Benz, a fellow German carmaker, will also skip the event.
Megan Myungwon Lee, CEO of Panasonic North America, stated that “The safety and health of our customers, employees and partners remains our highest priority.” We have revised our hybrid CES activation plan keeping in mind this promise.The plans include a reduced physical footprint with limited staff.
This is consistent both with CTA’s safety protocols and our proactive measures to ensure attendees’ health.
TechCrunch was informed by the CTA that more than 2,200 companies have been confirmed as participating in-person in CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
Mike Sievert from T-Mobile, CEO, has announced that his company will not be at the largest electronic show in the world next month.
This event will be the world’s largest tech conference and showcase first-time innovation in Blockchain-based non-fungible tokens (NFTs), remote healthcare solutions, self driving cars, gaming, space tech, and food.
