Mysore 12 August : Bengaluru Blasters captain Mayank Agarwal played an explosive strike, enabling his team to score a huge win of 9 wickets against the Shivamogga Strikers here on Friday.
Mayank, who ended with 101 not out hitting 10 sixes and six fours during the 49-ball game is only the second player to hit 100 points in the tournament to date and also ends the evening with the Orange Cap.Gulbarga Mystics’ Rohan Patil scored his first century in the tournament on Thursday, against Mysore Warriors.

When asked to strike first the Shivamogga Strikers jumped off the field quickly with openers Rohan Kadam and Sharath BR putting on a show.

The openers reacted to the Blasters bowling from the very first over, aiming to make the most of the powerplay.

Kadam and Sharath were able to match shot-for-shot in the powerplay regardless of whether it was driving through the cover or whirling it through the on-side the batters were in the most perfect touch.

Captain K Gowtham and Avinash D added Avinash D and Captain K Gowtham delivered a couple of major punches in the final stage that took the Strikers to 173/2 after 19 overs.The goal, according to the VJD method is 175 for the Blasters.

The day didn’t get easier for bowlers, as the Blasters first-inning pair of captain Mayank Agarwal and LR Chethan made good use of the conditions for batting and the powerplay, scoring at a high speeds.

They did not hold either back.

Chethan and Mayank threw the kitchen sink at the bowling of the Strikers and threw them over the top , and cutting through the gap in the field with unimaginable ease in the opening phase, and then making the fifty-year partnership in the fourth over.Chethan left in the next ball for 34 after just 15 delivery, with the score at 69.

The wicket, however, did not hinder Mayank who made the batting appear ridiculously easy.Also, with Aneesh KV at his challenge, Mayank got to his half-century in just 23 deliveries.

Mayank continued to smash whatever was thrown at him by bowlers, and he marched toward 100.

The captain’s brutal hit has pushed the Blasters to 150/1 in 13 overs with the Strikers trying to find a way to break through.Mayank reverse-swept medium pacer Hoover to score a boundary, then smashed him to get another boundary to reach his century.Aneesh ended the match with the fourth four of fine-leg in the 16th over.

Mayank was unbeaten at the 102 mark and was miles ahead throughout the day as Aneesh ended on 35, not out.

Saturday will be a day of action with Hubli Tigers taking on Shivamogga Strikers at 3pm, while the Bengaluru Blasters play Mysuru Warriors in the 7pm game Both games are in Mysore.
