Cairns 6 September : Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s stunning catch to eject Martin Guptill in the first One-day International at the Cazaly’s Stadium here on Tuesday has once more established his status as one of the top fielders in the world of cricket.The specialist in limited-overs took an amazing of catch in the fifth over bowled by pace bowler Mitchell Starc, as he moved to his left and held onto an elongated ball to remove of the dangerous opener Guptill for just six runs.

Maxwell has just stepped out of his position in the field at backward point in order to grab a single-handed blast from the air.Starc bowled a fuller ball that was soaring off the line Guptill, who was looking to push the ball, received an outside edge that was thick, with the ball bouncing toward the left of the backward point.Maxwell ran to his left and pulled off an explosive screaming strike with his hands outstretched.
In the past, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to play in the opening match of three ODI matches.The opening over was a thrilling one with Guptill scoring six runs in the two first balls from Starc.
He was declared LBW after the conclusion of the over, but he was able to get an effective review to get through.
In the end, Starc snared Guptill in the fifth over, due in large part to Maxwell’s superb effort from backward point.
Australia was looking set to limit the hosts to a score of less than 250 with New Zealand reeling at 195/6 in 44.5 overs with James Neesham and Mitchell Santner at the crease.Maxwell also appeared to be the bowler with the highest success for hosts taking four wickets for 42 runs in nine overs.
