Kabul 17 August : Many worshippers are believed to be dead following an explosion in the mosque in the northern region of Kabul, Afghan capital Kabul. The blast took place during the evening prayers in the Kotal-e-Khairkhana area of the city, Kabul police spokesman Khalid Zadran was quoted by dpa on Wednesday.
Zadran said the precise number of victims was not known, but security forces were examining the incident.
Unconfirmed reports suggest more than 20 people, including mosque’s Imam Mawlawi Amir Mohammad Kabuli, were killed in the explosion and 40 others were wounded.
The police have not yet made any claim of any responsibility for the incident.
Despite the Taliban’s claim that they have provided security to the country however, the country is experiencing regular attacks, mainly claims of the Islamic State.
The Taliban took over the power in August 2021, following the chaotic retreat of the American-led NATO forces.They reimposed their strict regime.
There is no country that has yet recognized the hardliners’ government in fact.
