New Delhi, December 14, : .Manish Maheshwari is leaving Twitter India, the former chief of Twitter India, to start his own edtech company.

He was promoted to an even higher position at Twitter’s US headquarters amid the controversy over account deletions.
In several tweets Maheshwari stated that he was leaving Twitter after nearly three years to devote himself to teaching and education.

He will also open Invact, an edtech startup.

He said, “While I have to say goodbye to Twitter with a heavy heart,” but he was excited by the potential impact education can make around the world.

Because it levels the playing field, Metaversity is especially relevant to women from emerging markets.He said that it empowers women to achieve their goals, to build learning communities, and to make connections into professional networks to improve their job prospects.

Maheshwari joined Twitter as the Managing Director of its India operations in April 2019.He moved to a new position in August as Senior Director Revenue Strategy and Operations based out San Francisco.

His focus was on “New Market Entry”.

Twitter had blocked Rahul Gandhi, Congress leader and many other leaders of the party for violating its platform policies.His resignation was announced.

The Congress alleged that it was done on the behest of the government.

Twitter had clarified its action, saying that the rules were enforced judiciously and impartially for everyone on its service.

Amid the political ruckus, the Centre in August informed the Delhi High Court that Twitter has appointed permanent officers as required under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

Twitter informed the Delhi High Court that it has appointed employees at the positions of Chief Compliance Officer and Resident Grievance Officer, and Nodal Contact Person, in compliance with the provisions of the new IT rules.

In October, the Supreme Court issued notice on a plea filed by Uttar Pradesh government challenging the Karnataka High Court order quashing notice of personal appearance issued to then Twitter India Managing Director Maheshwari.

The notice was issued to Maheshwari in connection with a probe into uploading a communally sensitive video by a user on Twitter.

The police had rejected Twitter India officials’ request to carry out the questioning via video conferencing.
