While she was in Delhi, the Congress unit in Meghalaya split.Former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma joined TMC.
Sangma was not the only one who joined the party, but Ashok Tanwar and Kirti Azad in Delhi joined the party.Tanwar had left TMC in 2019.

The TMC had already brought in LaliteshpatiTripathi, Luizinho Faleiro from Goa, and Sushmita Devi in Assam.Dev and Faleiro were sent to the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House of Parliament.

Mamata met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during her visit to Mumbai this week. However, when asked about a meeting between Sonia Gandhi and Mamata, she stated that it was not necessary to meet Sonia Gandhi every time.

During her visit to Mumbai, Banerjee will likely meet NCP supremo Sharad Pwar and Shiv Sena leaders.

Although Congress is closely monitoring these developments, it is refraining to directly attack the TMC chief.

Instead, Congress is blaming Prashant Kishor, a poll strategist, for luring Congress leaders into joining the TMC fold.

Mamata Banerjee is keen to expand her base beyond Bengal, and her entry into national politics could hinder the larger talk of Opposition national unity.

The Congress is attempting to target indirectly the fissures, with the
Kishor attacked by Dinesh Gundu Rao, Congress’ Goa In-charge, and alleging that the TMC Chief is misdirecting him.

“What are their (TMC?) intentions? They came here to help BJP.And I don’t know if Mamata Didi is aware of it.I feel that the people running this IPAC (Kishor’s outfit) have a completely different agenda.Rao said that they may be betraying Mamata Didi.

The Congress is speaking to the TMC ahead of the winter session.

The opposition boycotted Constitution Day, but the Congress now looks at the TMC with suspicion. The Congress is now in turmoil over the Meghalaya split, as it was already facing an attack from the BJP in northeast.

After having differences with Vincent H Pala, the president of the state Congress, Mukul Sangma said that he had joined the Trinamool Congress to be an effective opposition party, and to serve the people according their wishes.Despite meeting the central leadership several times, our commitment to the people was not fulfilled.”

Pala stated that the party will not be affected by the split. The Congress central leadership is aware of the damage, but cannot stop the leaders leaving the party. They are witnessing it helplessly.

The Congress was unable to send all of these leaders to the Upper House. It is also out power in most states, except Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab. The Congress is running a coalition government with Jharkhand and Maharashtra as the junior partner.
