She was administered the oath of office by Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Deepak at the Raj Bhavan.

Only a few guests were invited to the swearing-in ceremony amid the surge of coronavirus.

This is the third time Mamata Banerjee has been sworn in as Chief Minister of West Bengal. It is learned that she lost in Nandigram against the BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari.

As there is no Legislative Council in West Bengal, she has to win an assembly seat within six months to continue as CM.

Mamata Banerjee is likely to contest from a position where her party is strong. For this, an MLA from Trinamool Congress can resign, and Mamatha Banerjee can contest for that position.Alternatively, Mamata Banerjee is likely to contest from the Khardaha constituency in the upcoming elections to replace the late TMC leader Kajal Singh.

Or she may contest from Jangipur and Shamsherganj constituencies, which have been postponed due to the untimely death of candidates.
