Malaysian government affirms LGBTQ+ elements behind banning of “Thor: Love and Thunder’

Los Angeles, Aug 12 : As the world sails into the eight months of 2022 The Malaysian government appears to remain in the past.
The Malaysian government has revealed the reasons to ban the Marvel film “Thor: Love and Thunder’ in relation to the film’s LGBTQ+ components, which are not allowed in Malaysia.

As reported by ‘Variety’ the minister told the media on Wednesday that government officials are determined to limit gay culture.Both ‘Thor’ as well as the Pixar animated films ‘Lightyear’ were screened by the distributor Disney to be classified and censored by the nation’s Film Censorship Board (LPF).

In both instances the LPF demanded cut-outs that the studio opted not to take, thereby taking the images of the possibility of a theatrical release.

“Lightyear” was not allowed in the 16 and more Muslim-majority nations.

The Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin, deputy minister of communications and multimedia, said in an interview with the magazine ‘Variety’ that “Recently there was a movie that didn’t get through censorship and that film is the new “Thor” film.(The film) focused on LGBT but as we can see that there are a lot of movies with LGBT aspects that get through the censorship.”

“Variety” further states that Zahidi claimed that the government as well as the department of religion (correctly called the Islamic Affairs Department or JAKIM) are determined to stop the expansion of LGBT culture in the country.He blamed foreign influences for the issue, and claimed that LGBT films were becoming more subtile in their approaches and urged the public to be vigilant.

“I am angry since the world outside was who promoted LGBT,” he said when he was asked an inquiry in Parliament.Zahidi claimed that the government was constantly watching the internet and social media platforms to look for LGBT material and “would be able to take drastic action against those who promote these elements.”
