Maharaja Trophy: Nikin Jose’s fifty helps Mangalore United register 8-wicket win over Shivamogga Strikers

Mysore 10 August : Nikin Jose’s brilliant half-century (85 off 56) contributed to Mangalore United register an eight-wicket victory against Shivamogga Strikers in Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2022 in Mysore on Wednesday.

With 83.2/3 in the 12th bat the Strikers were looking set for a spirited finish.Kadam had his second half-century streak in succession in the tournament shortly after and was joined by Stallin Hoover to go with him.The pair put up 43 runs to take the fourth wicket, but Kadam was dismissed at 64 after having scored three sixes and five fours in his 49-ball innings.

Hoover was the last to leave for 25, following which K Gowtham (9), Rajvir Wadhwa (0), MB Darshan (2), KC Cariappa (3 not out) and Avinash D (13 not out) helped propel the score to 155/8 in 20 overs.

In the retaliation, Mangalore United got off with a poor start and lost captain Samarth R in the second over for a loss of 2 with the score at 3.However, that was the only source of happiness for the Strikers for a time when Macneil Noronha and Nikin Jose were in charge.

The pair absorbed the pressure, but then increased the scoring rate, which was close to 8 runs per over at the time the team of the 58th wicket was broken.

While Amit began to offensive from the start, Nikin chipped away and got his fifty in the 13th over before he broke loose when Mangalore was able to get to the seat.

Nikin was unbeaten with 85 deliveries from 56, scoring five sixes and four fours, with Amit Verma who hit 41, finishing the match with a colossal six in the 18th over.

In Thursday’s match, Bengaluru Blasters will take on Mangalore United while the Mysore Warriors take on Gulbarga Mystics, both in Mysore.
