Maharaja Trophy: Mayank Agarwal’s Bengaluru Blasters win by 35 runs against Mangalore United

Mysore 11 August : Mayank Agarwal’s Bengaluru Blasters registered a convincing 35-run win over Mangalore United on Thursday, through the VJD method following rain that came down with inadequate timing.
Mayank and LR Chethan were at the most dangerous when they smashed their opponents out of the game.

Rishi Bopanna sped up the fashion with the ball grabbing four wickets.

Batting first in the first innings, the Bengaluru Blasters got off to an excellent beginning with captain Mayank Agarwal and LR Chethan firing all the right gears in the powerplay, bringing the score to 70/0 at the conclusion of the first six overs.

The more skilled Mayank mixed cautiousness with aggression on one side, Chethan threw the kitchen sink at the Mangalore bowling.After the powerplay, Bengaluru lost Mayank for 44 off 20 deliveries.

This didn’t slow down the Blasters, however, as Chethan hit his fifty in a matter of minutes, ending with 66 from 39 deliveries, hitting five sixes as well as four boundaries.At the time Chethan was dismissed at 122/2 in the 12th over.

The Blasters however were unable to make their early advantage count to much.They added an additional 60 runs in the remaining of the overs, but losing seven wickets in the process.

Suraj Ahuja (10), Shivkumar Rakshith (14), Kranthi Kumar (12) and Rishi Bopanna (16*) were the main contributors as the Blasters ended up with the score of 186-9 in 20 overs.For Mangalore, M Venkatesh, Amit Verma and Aneeshwar Gautam bagged a couple of wickets each.

In pursuit of a difficult goal, Mangalore lost opener and captain Samarth R for 1 in the second over.However, Macneil Noronha as well as Nikin Jose brought the ship back to a steady course with the team of 70 for the second wicket.

Nikin was hitting it well and was looking to score an upcoming second consecutive half-century However, he Nikin was dismissed for 35 of 33 deliveries at a time when his team was getting faster.Noronha was on the other side and continued making progress even as Abhinav Manohar was dismissed for 11.

Noronha, who mingled with a bit of sass, picked his century in the 14th over but he could not get going and was dismissed with a well-crafted 50 from 36 deliveries which left Mangalore in a bit of trouble.

Then a couple of deliveries after that, Aneeshwar Gautam was packed off to become a duck, and the writing began to be seen on the wall of Mangalore.

Amit Verma reacted shortly after for 8 , before HS Sharath struck a couple of brutal blows before leaving in 17 in the 17th over.With 58 required from 14 balls, the rain stopped the game and the umpires ruled the game in favor of the Blasters on the basis of the VJD method.

Friday will be a day of action with Hubli Tigers taking on Gulbarga Mystics while the Bengaluru Blasters play Shivamogga Strikers both in Mysore.
