Mumbai, November 16, : , Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Sing Koshyari paid rich tributes Tuesday to Nityanand Swami, the former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.This was part of the 21st anniversary celebrations of the creation of the Himalayan State.
Addressing a cultural programme, ‘Apnu Uttarakhand’ organised by the “Shri Nityanand Swami Janaseva Samiti” (SNSJS), the Governor said that when he was the minister of Energy & Irrigation in Uttarakhand, he could complete the massive Tehri Garhwal project owing to the complete freedom given by the then Chief Minister Swami.The Governor addressed a cultural program, ‘Apnu Uttarakhand”, organized by Shri Nityanand Swami Janaseva Samiti (SNSJS).

He stated that he had the freedom to complete the huge Tehri Garhwal Project when he was minister of Energy & Irrigation Uttarakhand because of the total freedom granted by then Chief Minister Swami.

“He was a fighter leader and a dedicated social worker.

He was both a leader of fighters and an excellent social worker.Despite the rough and tumble of politics, he gave me the affection of an elder brother.

He loved me like an older brother, even in spite of the political turmoil.I had the honour of working with him closely,” Koshyari said.

Koshyari stated that he had the honor of having worked closely with him.

Swami, who passed away in December 2012 aged 84, was a successful lawyer who climbed the political rung by dint of his affable nature and humility.Swami died in December 2012 at the age of 84.He was an accomplished lawyer, who rose to political prominence through his humble nature and affability.

The cultural programme saw a folk music performance by a group from Uttarakhand, comprising Basanti Devi Bisht, Padma Shri awardee, and Vikas Bharadwaj, Shristi Kala and Aman Raturi.A folk performance was performed by an Uttarakhand group, including Basanti Devi Bishit, Padma Shri recipient, Vikas Bhadwaj and Shristi Kala, as part of the cultural program.

Later, the Governor felicitated the folk singers in the presence of the SNSJS Chairman R.K.Bakshi, Vice-Chairperson Jyotsna Sharma with Vinayak Sharma Swami and Shaina NC present along with film personalities like Himani Shivpuri, Chitrakshi Tiwari, Shruti Panwar and Deepak Dobriyal.The Governor later felicitated folk singers with the SNSJS Chairman R.K.Bakshi and Vice-Chairperson Jyotsna Sharm with Vinayak Sharma SWami and Shaina NC, along with movie personalities such as Deepak Dobrial, Chitrakshi Triwari, Shruti Pantwar, and Shruti Panwar.
