Liz Cheney says will mull about White House run

Washington 18th August : Just one day following the loss of the Wyoming Republican primary, US Representative Liz Cheney who is an outspoken criticism of the former president Donald Trump, said that she is considering the possibility of a White House run.
“That’s an option I’m likely to take in the next couple of months,” Xinhua news agency quoted Cheney as saying in an NBC News interview on Wednesday.

Cheney who was who was a three-term congresswoman, and vice chair of the House committee investigating the January 2021 Capitol riot, was defeated by Harriet Hageman, a lawyer who has been working to oppose federal laws in Wyoming and was recognized by Trump.

With 99 percent of the votes that was counted on Wednesday Hageman outnumbered Cheney by 37 percentage points.

Cheney has represented the Wyoming congressional district from 2017.

She spoke to her supporters on Tuesday evening that she had contacted Hageman to concede, but she promised to “do whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office”.

Liz Cheney, the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, is among a tiny group of House Republicans who decided to impeach Trump for his involvement in the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.

The 56-year-old also lost her position as House Republican conference chair because of her criticism of Trump.

A uncompromising conservative laser focusing on security matters for national security, Liz Cheney was first elected to Congress in 2016.

Her father was the seat in the 1980s.
