Chennai, Nov 19, : .Two cinema legends — Martin Scorsese, the Hollywood producer and director, and Istvan Szabo, Hungary’s most well-known filmmaker — will receive the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Awards at 52nd International Film Festival of India, which opens in Panjim Friday, November 20. In honor of Satyajit Ray, the Lifetime Achievement Award has been renamed in his honour.This year’s centenary celebrations are being held.
Chaitanya Prasad, the Festival Director, announced the names.She said that Scorsese, Szabo, and other filmmakers will not be physically able to attend.
However, their videos expressing acceptance will be shown.
Prasad announced that Hema Malini (actress and Mathura MP) and Prasoon Joshi (lyricist, Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification, CBFC) will both receive the Personality of The Year award in 2021.
The festival would also be a tribute to Puneeth Rajkumar (the late Kannada film star), who was recently posthumously awarded the Karnataka Ratna title by the chief minister of the state.
In addition, this homage will include a special tribute to Sean Connery (the Scotsman that first played James Bond),
The festival director stated that the 52nd IFFI would open with a star-studded ceremony that will feature Salman Khan and Shraddha Kaoor as well as Riteish, Genelia and Genelia Deshmukh.
