Seoul, November 19, 2013 : .LG Electronic has exceeded the milestone of 10,000,000 shipments in its OLED TV premium in the third quarter.
This is according to new data released Friday. The 5-million-sales milestone took seven years for the South Korean television maker, while it only took two years for the company to accomplish the feat.
This shows the tech company’s rapid growth in premium TV markets.
Omdia, an analyst firm, said that LG’s TV business saw strong growth during the July-September period.
They sold 899,000 OLED TVs, up 80 percent over the previous year.
According to Yonhap news agency, 2.63 million LG OLED TVs were sold in the first nine months.This is double last year and more than the total shipment of the previous year.
Global OLED TV sales reached 1.53 million units during the third quarter.This figure will rise to 2 million units by the end of the fourth quarter as TV demand generally increases.The number of OLED TVs sold worldwide is expected to rise to 6.5 million by year’s end.
In the three-months ending September, LG was responsible for over 60% of global OLED TV markets.
