Legendary director K Balachander, guru to several top actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan is no more.K.Balachander who was admitted to a private hospital a week back following fever and some age-related ailment passed away this evening at 7.02 pm today,
Balachandar was 84 and he had recently undergone a surgery to remove a brain tumour A week later, his condition quickly deteriorated and he slipped into a coma.
He has directed films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi and has written, directed and produced more than 100 films.Balachander has over 150 films to his credit and his best works includes .‘Maro Charithra’, ‘Anthu Leni Katha’, ‘Akali Rajyam’, ‘Idhi Katha Kadu’ and ‘Rudraveena’
He also directed tele serials like ‘Rahasyam’ & ‘Marmadesam’ which were still touted to be the best suspense thrillers ever made on Television.He has launched more than 65 actors, actresses and technicians in the Tamil film industry.
He has received several accolades including Dadasaheb Phalke award (2010), Padma Shri (1987), Kalaimamani Award (Tamil Nadu) Nandi and Golden Nandi (Andhra Pradesh) besides many film awards like Filmfare among others.
