The Left-Leader Nalakkanu gives Rs 10 lakh cash prize to TN government

Chennai 16th August : A veteran leader of the Communist Party of India (CPI), R.Nallakannu who was selected for the Thagaisal Thamizar award by the Tamil Nadu government, returned the cash prize of the award to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).He added a sum of Rs 5,000 to the prize money and donated the entire amount to the CMPRF.
In the past, he was presented with earlier, he received the Thagaisal Thamizhar award from the Chief Minister M.K.Stalin in St.George Fort during the Independence Day celebrations.

Ignacimuthu, Director of Xavier Research Foundation of St Xavier’s College, Palayamkottai received the Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam memorial award for his outstanding contribution to the field of research.

The Chief Minister presented the Kalpana Chawla Award for Courage and Daring Enterprise to B.Ezhilarasai of Nagapattinam district for the bravery she showed in helping two children who were drowning from a body of water in her village.

Vanavai trust of Nagapattinam was presented with an award to the most outstanding institution.Dr.G.Pankajam of Gandhigram Rural Institute in Dindigul won the top social worker award for the services that were provided for the welfare of women.

Salem municipal corporation was awarded the most efficient local bodies award.

The chief minister Stalin handed the prizes to the winners following the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony at St.George Fort.
