Los Angeles, Aug 5 : As the producers of “Jokers” announced their sequel slated for release in 2024 there was speculation that singer-actress Lady Gaga would essay the role of the clown prince’s partner in the crime Harley Quinn. Now the ‘Hold My Hand star has confirmed her role in the film, posting an audio teaser on social media.
The sequel to the original film, officially titled Joker: Folie A Deux, which will feature Gaga with Joaquin Phoenix, returning to Joker’s Joker role of Joker after having won the Oscar for best actor due to his performance in the first installment of the series in 2019 as reported by “Variety”.
The teaser will be “Cheek to Cheek,” which Gaga has been known for her cover of in her career with Tony Bennett.
Director Todd Phillips posted the screenplay’s cover on Instagram on June 7 with the ‘Folie Deux subtitle.
According to ‘Variety the phrase is a reference to a delusional disorder that is shared by all, and Joker’s sole real-life companion aside from Batman at least is Harley the character, which was developed for ‘Batman: The animated series’ in the early 1990s.The teaser isn’t a definitive confirmation that Gaga will be playing Harley.
Phillips”original 2019 film “Joker” became a box office sensation, earning more than $1 billion worldwide , making it the highest-grossing movie with an R rating in the history of cinema (unadjusted to account for inflation).Phoenix was awarded the Oscar for his performance, as did Hildur Guonadottir, who composed the original score.
“Joker: Folie A Deux’ will be released in theaters on October 4, 2024.
