New Delhi, Aug 30 : The leader of the opposition Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar and expressed his hope that the opposition would get its rightful place in the proceedings of Parliament.Dhankar is chairman of the Rajya Sabha and will preside during the winter session.
Kharge at the end of the meeting stated “Wished him all the best for his time in office and urged him to ensure a seamless and democratic operation of the Upper House where all voices are heard and all viewpoints particularly those that criticize the administration, get the proper space.”
The Congress did not endorse Dhankar but had chosen Margaret Alva as the joint opposition candidate.
The opposition has been claiming that their voice is not heard in Parliament and that they are being silenced.Congress is the second biggest political party after the BJP however, the NDA has been able to pass in the Upper House with the support of similar parties.
Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi had met President Droupadi Murmu on August 23.A tweet issued by the Secretary of the President’s Secretariat stated, “President, Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.”
