Kochi, Nov 30, : On Tuesday, the Crime Branch wing, Kerala police, which is investigating the deaths of three people, including two models in a car accident on November 1st, confirmed that Saiju Thankachen, an interior designer, is a drug addict. “He is a drug addict, and it has been proven from his past dealings.” We will register cases against him if there are any complaints and we are also looking into whether we can file a suo-moto case,” Kochi Commissioner for Police C.H.Nagaraju spoke to the media.
Since Thankachen’s arrest, the police have been able uncover a few things.
His mobile phone seemed to be the most important source of evidence.
According to sources, the police team has concluded that Thankachen was the cause of the accident after interviewing him.Thankachen rushed from a hotel where there was a DJ party and followed the victim models who were also at the party.
Ancy Kabeer (25), and Anjana Shahan (24), both died instantly in the accident on November 1.The third passenger, however, died a few days later from his injuries.The driver was able to escape with his injuries.
The police later arrested the driver.
The case would have been dismissed as an accident.However, the police discovered that the CCTV images from the hotel where the DJ party was held had disappeared.
Later, Roy J.Vayalatin, the owner of the hotel, was arrested by police along with five of his employees.The grounds for their arrest were that the visuals had been destroyed.
However, all five were released on bail within 24 hours.
The police tried three times to retrieve the hard drive, which the owner claimed was thrown into a nearby stream, but it was not possible.
According to the investigation, Thankachen called Vayalatin minutes after the accident.
